Fredericksburg, Texas

Founded in the mid-1800s and named after a Prussian Prince, Prince Frederick, Fredericksburg is one of the most popular destination towns in Texas. This historic city, located about an hour and a half west of Austin and north of San Antonio, is home to nearly 12,000 residents.

Fredericksburg is popular both for tourists as well as those who have elected to retired in this section of scenic Texas Hill Country. Fredericksburg is surrounded by a variety of farms, cabins and ranch homes that stretch beyond its immediate borders.

And as Fredericksburg celebrates its historic roots it is also home to a unending assortment of outdoor activities including more than thirteen different parks, rivers and lakes throughout the area. One of the most visited is the scenic Enchanted Rock State Natural Area. Enchanted Rock is visited by thousands every year by those who appreciate its beauty with a hike to the “top of the rock,” camping and picnicking.

Fredericksburg is also home the most prolific production of peaches in the entire state and is so named as a “Peach Capital” of Texas by many who visit the area. Wildflowers decorate the Fredericksburg landscape and is home to one of the largest wildflower seed farms in the country.

And who can visit Fredericksburg without paying homage to the Lyndon B. Johnson State Park and Historic Site. Dubbed the “Texas Whitehouse” due to the time LBJ and Lady Bird Johnson spent there, this area is dedicated to the preservation and promotion of the Texas Outdoors.

Homes in Fredericksburg run the gamut both in price as well as style. While many original historic structures are still preserved today, Fredericksburg does offer excellent starter homes for the first time homebuyer to breathtaking hill country structures that command $4 million dollars or more.

Both visiting and living in Fredericksburg is a real treat with downtown Fredericksburg acting as the hub of the entire town. Fredericksburg is host to several community events throughout the year, enhancing its true neighborly personality.
